I’m in a weird spot with watches. A bit of a funk, if you will. It’s not that I’m having a falling out with watches or collecting, but if I’m being honest, I’m feeling a bit bored with my collection. It’s hard to unpack — I still like every watch in my collection — heck, that’s why I bought them. At the end of the day, it boils down to the fact that I’m interested in exploring experiences with new watches. Thus, I’ve embarked on what many in the watch collecting hobby loosely refer to as “collection consolidation.” For the unanointed, collection consolidation usually refers to one of two things — (1) selling pieces in an effort to consolidate a collection down to its essence, the favorites of the collector, or (2) selling pieces to make room for new pieces while keeping the favorites as collection stalwarts that have, over time, earned their place in the collection for the long-term.
