Flights booked, hotel reserved, rental car locked in, gear serviced, 10 dives primed — my only remaining chore is to pack. As many do, I like to procrastinate packing until the absolute last minute. Alas, I sit here, on the penultimate eve of a long overdue spring break to the Florida Keys for two and a half days of scuba diving, ample sunshine, early June Florida Keys heat and humidity, and who knows what else — hopefully, a small sprinkle of debauchery. All of the above would be good for my soul.
As I mentioned in my last Off the Cuff post, I've been busy — the kind of busy I don't wish on anyone. A promotion at work has led me to be busier than I ever have been in my professional life, a major project I'm working on has consumed a large portion of my personal free time (more on this at a future date), and the never-ending onslaught of adult responsibility has me running on proverbial fumes. While I've mostly taken the hustle and bustle in stride, I'm simply worn out and in need of a holiday. As Bilbo Baggins once said, "I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread." How painfully appropriate. Read the full post
